About

San Angelo State Park

In October of 2019, we sold our home in California and most of our possessions and bought a truck and an Airstream travel trailer. Since then, we have been “on the road” traveling around the USA.

We try to find comfortable weather whatever the season. Two or three hours of driving is about right for us when moving to a new location. When we find a nice place to explore, we stay there up to three weeks at a time.

Our Thousand Trails membership allows us to camp free or for a very low cost. Other camping memberships also help minimize our expenses. State, county and city parks and have also been a great way to save on nightly camping fees, offering us beautiful views in scenic places.

Do we miss having a permanent home? The responsibility of our former home on 5 acres and its upkeep was one of our reasons for selling it. The affordability and low-stress minimalist lifestyle has many benefits. The limited space in our 31 foot travel trailer makes every purchase a question of “Were do we put this?” We’re okay with that. We’ve learned that “life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” (Luke 12:15)

Getting to see our kids and grandkids on a more extended basis has been a wonderful benefit of having a home on wheels. Getting to be around them has made longer visits with them possible.

We don’t have a timeline on how long we will continue our travels. There are so many things to see and do. We like our lifestyle and plan to continue as long as we possibly can.
